Hormone Management
Both men and women are subject to changes of availability of essential hormones as they age. The net effect is that, due to a decline in estrogen in women and testosterone in men, people's quality of life may be significantly lowered due to increased fatigue, decreased concentration, and lowered bone density.
In the past, hormone replacement for women, specifically oral Premarin, resulted in increased risk of breast cancer. And oral estrified estrogen and methyl testosterone increased risk of breast cancer.
The need is clear: A safer alternative to Premarin that would restore vitality of life for women.
So why haven’t pharmaceutical companies used their intellectual capital to provide a solution? Because the safest solution is a bio-identical hormone (compounded) that can't be patented. Therefore, there is no large profit margin available, and therefore, no large pharmaceutical company interest.
Dr. Jerrells, using symptomatic evaluation, a physical exam, and lab work can develop a diagnosis. If hormone replacement therapy is indicated, bio-identical estrogen can be affordably and pharmaceutically compounded locally.
Dr. Jerrells' recommendation is to talk with your physician if you are a woman that is having hot flashes, changes in periods, changes in skin including hair growth pattern changes, dryness, vaginal dryness, or changes in libido.
These are steps you can take to look and feel your best once the problem is identified and diagnosed.
